Privacy Policy

The short version

Talk2Text does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your data. Period. Your voice never leaves your Mac.

Local processing

All speech recognition is performed locally on your Mac using whisper.cpp. If you enable LLM enhancement, that processing also runs locally via Ollama. No audio, text, or any other data is sent to any server, cloud service, or third party.

No analytics or telemetry

Talk2Text contains no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking pixels, no crash reporting, and no usage statistics. We have no idea how you use the app — and that's by design.

No data collection

We do not collect personal information, device identifiers, IP addresses, or any other data from the application. There is no account creation and no sign-in.

License validation

The only external network call Talk2Text makes is to Paddle (our payment and licensing provider) to validate your license key. This communication is between your Mac and Paddle's servers — Talk2Text does not operate any servers of its own. Paddle's privacy policy governs that interaction.

Your files

Any audio files or transcriptions you create with Talk2Text remain on your computer. They are never uploaded, synced, or backed up by the application.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update this page with a new "Last updated" date. Our commitment to local-only processing is foundational to Talk2Text and will not change.
